What are Solid State Relays (SSR)?
A solid state relay is an electronic switching device that switches on or off when an external voltage is applied across its terminals. They serve the same function as an electromechanical relay but they have no moving parts thus, resulting in a longer operational lifetime.
What are Solid State Relays used for?
A solid state relay can be used in a number of applications depending on the part specifications. However, its function is fairly universal across applications in that it is used to turn things on and off using another electrical input.
What’s the difference between a solid state relay and a normal relay?
A solid state relay makes use of semiconductor devices and optoelectronics to enable its switching functionality. This means that a SSR will consume very little power in comparison to mechanical relays. Mechanical relays use electromechanical contacts to switch the current. Some SSRs can run on only a few milliwatts.
Is this part safe for use?
Yes. This product that Tomark offers is RoHS tested and compliant with the latest RoHS legislation and guidelines.
